Heat and air conditioning are 100% provided by geothermal method.

Geothermal energy recovers solar energy stored in the soil to use it in heating and cooling. It is considered to be clean energy just like the sun, wind and hydraulic power. This form of energy creates no pollution whatsoever, releases no odours or smoke and is renewable because it uses calorific energy contained in the ground, continually renewed by the sun, rains and wind.

Even though the installation needs electricity to function, it is very economical because 75% of the energy used comes at no charge, right out of the ground.

In addition, while our inn uses a central heating and air conditioning system, each room has its own control for maximum comfort.

All the products used at the Auberge 4 Saisons d’Orford are phosphate-free and biodegradable.

The delicatessen at Aux 4 Saisons operates uniquely with water compressors. These devices do not eject heat outside like air compressors do. The heat is therefore maintained and recovered and sent to the geothermal system. This technique allows the lodge to heat a complete floor for a year.

Our lighting system uses bulbs that consume a single watt compared with regular bulbs which normally consume between 60 and 100 watts.

All outside walls are built of insulated forms, with each wall made of: 2 ¼” of rigid insulation board + 6’’ of reinforced concrete + 2’’ ¼ rigid insulation board. The insulation factor in this type of wall is 50% higher than a normal construction.

Also, the need to save as many trees as possible during the construction was a high priority, and an additional 300 trees and shrubs were planted after construction was completed.

Since each day, tones of detergent and millions of liters of water are used to wash towels that are generally used a single time, we only change the towels that are left in the bathtub.

To help reduce our use of plastic to a minimum, professional hair products are in a distributor format in shower.

A recycling bin is available in all our rooms.
